To become a Cognos Consulting Partner a company must meet the following minimum requirements within the first year.

Strategic Investment

Annual Fee
Upon acceptance into the Cognos Partner Program, Consulting Partners are required to pay an annual program fee, commensurate with their level of partnership. Membership in the program is effective for one year from the date of acceptance. Partners are required to pay the fee within 30 days of acceptance into the program, in order to remain in good standing.

Signed Cognos Consulting Partner Agreement
Once accepted into the program, partners will receive a partner agreement. An authorized official must sign and return two original copies of the agreement on behalf of the partner. The partnership is effective once the signed agreement has been received and countersigned by Cognos. An original signed version will be returned to the partner.

Complete Company Profile on Cognos PartnerNetwork
An online facility is available for partners to complete their corporate profile, which will serve as your company overview in the Cognos partner directory. Partners are required to maintain the information on this profile in a timely and accurate manner.

Identified Executive Sponsor
Platinum Consulting Partners must identify an executive sponsor for the partnership. Cognos will identify a corresponding executive sponsor.

Partner Management
This is the Partner designated point of contact for the relationship.
Contact: Contact is not assigned - Cognos must be given group contact.
Named: Partner designates a contact as partner manager for Cognos.
Dedicated: Partner has dedicated an Alliance Manager who is assigned exclusively to manage the Cognos partnership.

Annual Influence Revenue Commitment
Cognos anticipates the partner will influence Cognos license revenue according to the levels listed, on an annual basis. Cognos will track and review influence revenue with partners.

Technical Investment

Commitment to Complete Cognos Certification Program
All Consulting Partners are required to complete Cognos certification program, with the number of trained consultants as outlined under the Cognos Practice/Center of Excellence requirements below.

Cognos Practice/Center of Excellence
Cognos Gold and Platinum Partners are required to maintain a Cognos Practice or Center of Excellence. This would include such things as incorporating the technology in-house for demonstration purposes, training, and examples of successful implementations, documented best practices, and developer support. Cognos Consulting Partners require the following minimum number of certified consultants as defined by their category:
Silver Consulting Partner - 2 certified consultants
Gold Consulting Partner - 5 certified consultants
Platinum Consulting Partner - 10 certified consultants, 1 in each major geography

Marketing Investment

Participation in Cognos Marketing Programs
Marketing Programs are developed by Cognos towards joint sales objectives with Cognos opportunities. Partners must participate in Cognos sponsored marketing programs designed to identify and develop joint business opportunities.

Annual MDF Commitment
Gold and Platinum Consulting Partners are required to commit resources annually towards a joint market development fund. Funds are allocated on mutually agreed upon programs, and are defined annually in the business plan review.

Complete Annual Business Plan
Gold and Platinum Consulting Partners are required to complete and execute on an annual business plan with their Cognos Partner Manager. Business plans will define partnership objectives, opportunities, strategy, execution, and marketing/lead generation activities.

Required Number of Success Stories
All Consulting Partners are required to nominate joint customer references annually. The number of required references is identified in the partner requirements table. Partners should verify customer willingness to complete a success story.
